Pennyroyal Liquid Extract
Common Names: Tickweed, Squaw Mint, Thickweed, Stinking Balm, American Pennyroyal
Parts Used: Whole herb.
Pennyroyal, a miniature member of the mint family is primarily a woman's remedy. It has been historically used to bring on period and complete the menstrual cycle. Specific remedy if suppressed mentruation and the person is pale, with or without, dark circles under the eyes. The external application of Pennyroyal is used to keep away insects (IF NOT PREGNANT). Specific uses are for menstrual cramping, gas, decongestant, sores in the mouth and colds.
Recommended dosage: 10 to 40 drops following meals. If stubborn menstruation, then 40 drops, hourly, to achieve flow and or apply externally to lower abdomen, hourly, in sufficient quantity to cover the area. For external use, apply to exposed areas as needed.
Special Note: As with all herbs that have cleaning properties, all discharges that occur as a result of Pennyroyal's use should be viewed as positive evidence of cleansing, not a cause for alarm.
