Bodily Influences: Cherokee Indians first noticed that their clothing dyers using Goldenseal for golden yellow garments never got ill. The yellow shirt wearers were also frequently spared from common illnesses. Through this observation, it was discovered that Goldenseal was responsible for their good fortune. The plant was held in great esteem and reverence in their herbal pharmacopoeia (list of medicines). Since that time, the use of Goldenseal has spread throughout the world to relieve not only common contagious illnesses, but to rid the circulation of blue and blocked veins resulting in varicose veins. Cold and bluish lips, hands and feet may benefit from Goldenseal also. Goldenseal is the great catalyst herb which will stimulate the function of other herbs with which it is combines. It will stay on the job, supervising activities of the work crew, and will do the job itself if it has to.
