Living in today's world is guaranteed to be stressful for most people. The economy, natural disasters, wars, politics, and in general the constant reporting of negative news adds to negative emotions like fear, anger, sadness and even depression. Conflicts in relationships, not enough money to meet the bills, struggles with health challenges are just a few of the everyday problems which can create a negative emotional response. Flower essences are vibrational energies (like homeopathics) made from the flowers of plants. They are an easy to use, but very effective tool to help people heal on the emotional level.
An English medical doctor, Dr. Edward Bach, in the early 20th century discovered how to use flower essences for emotional healing and created the first 38 flower essence remedies. Bach wanted to create a system of healing that wouldn't destroy living beings and would be gentle and effective in nature. It is believed that Bach created flower essences after sampling the morning dew on flowers and feeling the energy the dew picked up from the blossom. He then matched the vibration or energy of the plant with the emotional vibration of the person.
The research and development of flower essences has continued on in the same tradition used by Dr. Bach, and now there are many more essences on the market to choose from. The essences in these combinations are made from some of the original Bach Flower essences in addition to those of more recently researched essences.
How Flower Essences Work
Plants have to overcome challenges in their environment just like humans do. They encounter harsh weather conditions, extremes in temperature, moisture and wind. They might have to deal with rocky soil, attacks by insects or animals. Plants have energy or characteristics that help them overcome these challenges. This energy is similar to the personality of a human which allows them to cope in a positive way when they encounter difficulties.
When we take a flower essence, it can break through the blocks where we are in denial about what we really feel and think. Flower Essences can help us face those difficult feelings we don't want to acknowledge or are blaming on others. Increased awareness of our emotional issues can help us make constructive changes in the way we think and behave, leading us to a more centered or emotionally-balanced place, leading us to increased feelings of peace, calmness, happiness and love.
